Chiropractic Laser Therapy for Arthritis and Whiplash

April 4, 2018 By Renee White

chiropractic laser therapyTwo of the most common complaints that chiropractors see is arthritis and whiplash. While whiplash primarily affects the neck, arthritis can affect every joint in the body. Fortunately, chiropractors can help you manage both of these health conditions with chiropractic laser therapy.

What Is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a degenerative disease that affects the musculoskeletal system of the body. It is one of the primary causes of disability in older adults. It is an umbrella term that consists of several diseases, but the most common type is osteoarthritis. Any malfunction in one of the joints can lead to arthritis, and chiropractors diagnose this condition based on the organ that is most affected. Chiropractic laser therapy can help reduce the impact the disease has on the body.

What Are The Symptoms Of Arthritis?

Patients with arthritis often complain of moderate to severe pain, stiffness and inflammation in the joints. Those with rheumatoid arthritis may even have lumps of tissue develop under their skin. Living with arthritis can be extremely painful, and although there is not currently a cure, chiropractors can effectively manage the disease and its symptoms with laser therapy.

How Does Laser Therapy Help Arthritis Patients?

This type of therapy works to reduce the amount of swelling and inflammation in the joint. Laser therapy increases blood flow in the affected area. Cells are able to rejuvenate and become balanced so the body can begin to heal.

What Is Whiplash?

Chances are if you have been driving for a while, you or someone you know has been involved in a car accident. It does not matter whether your vehicle was totaled, or just sustained a few scratches; your vehicle is not the only one that is injured.

Whiplash is an injury of the neck that is the result of a quick forward and backward movement of the neck. The muscles and the tissue around the neck become inflamed, and the person feels severe pain. The nervous system responds to the injury by protecting the spinal joints to prevent further injury to the spinal cord.

How Does Chiropractic Laser Therapy Help Whiplash Patients?

As with arthritis, laser therapy helps to reduce inflammation in the neck as well as stimulates the nerves and encourages new cell growth in the area.

The ultimate goal of chiropractic laser therapy is to return patients to excellent health. Regenerating new cells, eliminating inflammation and increasing blood circulation will improve the patient’s overall health and wellness.
